In 1988, Dr. Garry Landreth established the Center for Play Therapy (CPT), which has grown to become the largest play therapy training program in the world. In recognition of his substantial contributions to the field of play therapy, we have been working toward establishing the Garry Landreth Endowed Play Therapy Research Library to insure that Dr. Landreth’s vision continues. We reached our goal to raise $50,000 to meet the University’s required amount to endow and officially name the CPT Library after Dr. Landreth. This fund will enable the CPT library to continue to grow and provide the most current information on play therapy research, interventions and methodology to professionals. In this way, Dr. Landreth’s legacy will continue to impact the lives of millions of children for years to come. Furthermore, CPT will be able to use the interest earned on this endowment to offer scholarships to play therapy students in Dr. Landreth’s name.
Donors who contribute a total of $1,000 or more will be listed on a large plaque titled, “Friends of the Garry Landreth Play Therapy Research Library,” to be displayed in the new library housed in the UNT Center for Play Therapy. Additionally, anyone who contributes $1,000 or more will be recognized in the UNT College of Education Dean’s Leadership Society.
